Coinbase Stopped Trading It. That Does Not Mean the Token Is Gone.

    Published September 30, 2026

A trading stop on Coinbase or Kraken does not erase the token. Each notice sets its own withdrawal, conversion, or liquidation rules.

Coinbase Stopped Trading It. That Does Not Mean the Token Is Gone.

A trading suspension stops buying and selling on that platform. It does not, by itself, delete the token from an account. Coinbase and Kraken publish different follow-on rules. Read the notice for the asset you hold.

Coinbase paused IOTX, BADGER, and STORJ trading in September 2026

A Coinbase Exchange status incident for IOTX, in a monitoring post dated August 24, 2026, at 11:11 PDT, said Coinbase would suspend trading for IoTeX (IOTX) on September 23, 2026, on or around 2 p.m. ET. The notice named coinbase.com (Simple and Advanced Trade), Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime. It said IOTX order books had moved to limit-only mode, where limit orders can be placed and canceled and matches may occur.

An update on that same incident, posted September 23, 2026, at 11:06 PDT, said: “We have disabled trading for IoTeX (IOTX). Your funds will remain accessible to you, and you will continue to have the ability to withdraw your funds at any time.”

A separate incident for BADGER and STORJ, in a monitoring post dated August 28, 2026, at 11:10 PDT, said Coinbase would suspend trading for Badger DAO (BADGER) and Storj (STORJ) on September 28, 2026, on or around 2 p.m. ET, on the same products. Those order books also moved to limit-only. The monitoring post said BADGER and STORJ funds would remain accessible, with the ability to withdraw.

An update posted September 28, 2026, at 11:11 PDT said trading had been disabled for BADGER and STORJ, funds remain accessible, and “you will continue to have the ability to withdraw your funds at any time.” That “at any time” line is the wording on those two incident pages as of those dates. It is not a promise that the withdrawal window can never close.

Coinbase’s delisting page is broader than those three tokens

Coinbase’s token-migrations help page, retrieved September 29, 2026, says delistings happen when a cryptocurrency is suspended from trading on the platform, often due to project changes, failure to meet review standards, or project termination. After the trading deadline, Coinbase says you can no longer buy, sell, or convert the token. A limited period may be available to cash out to fiat. Afterward, the token becomes inaccessible for transactions.

If it is a trading-only delisting, Coinbase says you may still send assets off-platform. Coinbase may also disable or pause send and receive for certain tokens. If transfers are disabled, the page says to withdraw or transfer holdings before the cutoff. Coinbase says it communicates key dates through the Coinbase Markets X account, email, and platform announcements.

Some Coinbase notices convert remaining balances

The same Coinbase page describes GYEN separately from a trading-only pause. It says GMO-Z.com Trust Company, Inc., the issuer of GYEN, is winding down the GYEN stablecoin. Coinbase will convert all GYEN held on Coinbase to USDC from October 26 through 30, 2026, at the market rate at the time of conversion, with no transaction fees. Coinbase says no action is required for that conversion.

If you do not want GYEN converted, Coinbase says to send it to a compatible self-custody wallet before October 26, 2026. GYEN sends and receives will be disabled on that date. After the conversion, Coinbase will no longer support GYEN deposits or withdrawals. Coinbase says not to send GYEN to a Coinbase deposit address after that point, because those deposits may not be recoverable and will not be converted to USDC.

A GMO Trust notice published May 15, 2026, says GMO-Z.com Trust Company, Inc. commenced an orderly wind-down of GYEN and ZUSD issuance and voluntary dissolution under New York Banking Law §605. It opened a 180-day Initial Redemption Period from May 15, 2026, through November 11, 2026, during which it says it will process redemptions of GYEN and ZUSD at par for account holders in good standing (1 GYEN = 1 JPY). That par redemption is through GMO Trust. It is not the same as Coinbase’s later USDC conversion at market rate.

Kraken’s August 2026 delisting keeps withdrawals open, then liquidates

Kraken’s notice of scheduled asset delistings, last updated August 27, 2026, says deposits and trading will be disabled on September 11, 2026, at 14:00 UTC. Withdrawals will be disabled on December 10, 2026, at 15:00 UTC. Remaining balances will be liquidated between December 14 and 18, 2026.

Kraken says that to keep the assets, withdraw them before withdrawals close. It warns that several of the assets have limited or inactive markets, so liquidation proceeds may be significantly below recent reference prices and, in some cases, may be minimal or nil. The assets named in the notice are XTER, IR, GAIA, SCA, VANRY, BNC, SBR, RBC, MIR, JUNO, HDX, ACA, MULTI, RIZE, EPT, MAT, CQT, CXT, BKS, VULT, and M.

After September 11, 2026, Kraken says you will no longer be able to trade or deposit those assets on Kraken. Withdrawals remain open until December 10, 2026, at 15:00 UTC. Balances remaining after that date will be liquidated automatically during the later window.

What to check on a delisting notice

Check whether trading, deposits, and withdrawals are treated as separate steps. Check the cutoff dates and the time zone. Check whether remaining balances will stay in the account, stay withdraw-only, convert into another asset, or be liquidated. Check which product the notice covers. The IOTX and BADGER/STORJ posts named Coinbase.com, Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime.

A trading-only stop is not the same as a conversion or a liquidation. One platform’s notice is not a rule for another platform, and it is not a rule for every asset on the same platform.

    What remains unknown

CryptoWorkPro has not verified any reader’s balance, region, or withdrawal eligibility. Coinbase can update the IOTX and BADGER/STORJ incident pages after September 29, 2026. Kraken’s liquidation proceeds are not known in advance. Coinbase has not published the GYEN-to-USDC market rate it will use in late October. GMO Trust’s May 15, 2026 notice says further information will follow on GYEN and ZUSD that are not redeemed by November 11, 2026. This article does not say whether to hold, sell, withdraw, or redeem any named asset.
