A Confirmed Transaction Is Not a Credited Exchange Deposit.

    Published September 29, 2026

A block explorer confirmation is not an exchange credit. Coinbase and Kraken wait for network match and their own confirmation count.

A Confirmed Transaction Is Not a Credited Exchange Deposit.

A transaction hash can look finished on a blockchain explorer while Coinbase or Kraken still waits for its own confirmation count, network match, and account checks. Both exchanges say they credit a deposit only after those conditions are met.

Sending the same ticker on the wrong network is one reason the credit never appears. A ticker such as USDT is not a unique address.

What Coinbase Says About Pending Deposits

Coinbase's Why is my transaction pending? page covers transfers to or from a Coinbase primary balance. Until a transaction is Completed, it appears as Pending. Coinbase lists common causes that include insufficient network confirmations, high network volume, insufficient fees, and brief network sync issues.

If a crypto deposit has not arrived, Coinbase says to get the transaction hash from the sender and check confirmation status on the blockchain. Coinbase credits funds only after they are confirmed. If the transaction is confirmed but funds have not arrived, make sure the network used is supported by Coinbase. Unsupported assets or funds sent on unsupported networks may be lost. Coinbase says to contact support for potential recovery options. That is not a promise of recovery.

    Matching Networks on Coinbase

Coinbase's Assets on multiple networks page says that for certain assets you can choose more than one network. Support for multiple networks is not available in New York. The same network must be used on both the sending end and the receiving end unless the transaction involves the Polygon and Ethereum networks.

Coinbase says it cannot recover funds lost from being sent or received using an incorrect network. Always confirm that you and the recipient are using the same network. Ethereum on Polygon is called Wrapped Ethereum (WETH). Coinbase does not support wMATIC. If you send wMATIC to Coinbase, Coinbase says the funds will be lost.

Optimism deposits are processed in minutes, according to that page. In very rare cases, large deposits or deposits made during high bridging activity may take up to seven days to credit.

A separate Coinbase page on automatic return for unsupported network transactions repeats that Coinbase does not have the ability to recover funds lost because of an incorrect network. A limited later credit applied to certain previously lost assets after Coinbase added network support: ETH, MATIC, or USDC previously sent on Polygon, and DAI, ETH, or WBTC previously sent on Optimism. That is not a general recovery path for other wrong-network sends.

Coinbase also offers an asset recovery service for certain unsupported assets sent to a Coinbase address in error. Only certain assets and networks are eligible. Attempting an ineligible recovery produces an error. Recoveries greater than $100 incur a 5% fee on the amount over $100, plus network fees deducted from the Ethereum balance. Recovery is available from a web browser and sends funds to a connected self-custodial wallet. Coinbase says it is not liable for loss from use of the service. This tool is not a general reversal of every wrong-network transfer.

What Kraken Says About Missing Deposits

Kraken's Cryptocurrency deposit is missing page, last updated April 22, 2026, lists checks before you contact support. Did you use the correct network or token standard? Was the amount above the minimum deposit? Did you include a destination tag or memo where required, including for XRP, XLM, STX, and EOS? Was the address expired? Has the deposit met confirmation requirements? Is Kraken's status page showing maintenance? Did you deposit the wrong currency type, such as Litecoin to a Bitcoin address? Is the address one of your Kraken deposit addresses?

Kraken says deposits sent via Litecoin MWEB, Dash PrivateSend, CoinJoin, or other obfuscation tools will not be credited and may be lost. If you are still unsure after those checks, contact Kraken Support with the transaction details.

Kraken's Cryptocurrency deposit processing times page, last updated May 11, 2026, says deposits must receive a set number of blockchain confirmations before funds are credited. Examples from that page: Bitcoin requires 3 confirmations, estimated about 45 minutes. Ethereum on the Ethereum network requires 30 confirmations, estimated about 6 minutes. Other assets and networks have different counts. These are Kraken's published estimates, not a guarantee.

Kraken's Cryptocurrencies available on Kraken page, last updated August 23, 2026, says some assets, including ETH, USDC, and USDT, have multiple networks. Kraken lists USDT on many networks, including Ethereum (ERC-20) and Tron (TRC-20). The deposit network selected in Kraken still has to match the sending network.

    Practical Checks

Copy the transaction hash and open it on the explorer for the network you actually used. Compare that network with the network shown on the exchange receive screen, not just the ticker. Wait until the exchange's confirmation count is met. Check the minimum amount, any required memo, and the exchange status page.

If the deposit is still missing, contact official support with the transaction ID. Do not send a second transfer to test. Do not use anyone who messages you offering recovery.

    What Remains Unknown

CryptoWorkPro cannot see a reader's transaction. Eligibility for Coinbase asset recovery depends on asset and network. Kraken does not guarantee recovery of wrong-network deposits. Confirmation counts can change.

Check the live help pages and the explorer record for the network you used. A confirmed blockchain transfer is not, by itself, a credited exchange deposit.
